On this day Oct. 24, 1974, modern day "soul man", the legendary Al Green was taking a bath at his Memphis home when his ex-girlfriend, Mary Woodson burst in and poured boiling hot grits over him. Homegirl didn't even add any butter or salt. She then shot herself dead. Green suffered second degree burns. But ultimately, he came out on top of life and on the bottom of the groove!
